Meet Dr. Stephen Reid
Dr. Stephen Reid received his doctorate in dental surgery from the University of California, San Francisco in 1971. While attending UCSF, he was elected to the prestigious dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. After graduation, he completed a one year dental internship in the United States Air Force in 1972. He remained in the USAF for three years while practicing dentistry and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
He received his Post-Doctoral Education in Periodontology at the University of Washington, completing his residency in 1977. Since that time, Dr. Reid has devoted himself to providing excellent periodontal care and esthetic pre-prosthetic oral surgery to patients in his private practice at offices in Walnut Creek and Danville.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the California Society of Periodontology.

To My Valued Patients and Friends,
This New Year brings an exciting change to my practice, one that is many months in the making. After 40 years devoted to the periodontal health and hygiene of my patients, I will be retiring this year and transitioning my private practice. Over the last six months I have been searching for the right successor who not only shares my passion in providing excellent periodontal care, but also with whom my patients, staff, and referring doctors will feel comfortable working with. After interviewing many periodontists throughout the country, I found my ideal candidate to be a colleague right here in the Bay Area.
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Eric Tsai will continue my periodontal practice in Danville. Dr. Tsai grew up in Walnut Creek and attended Northgate High School. He graduated from U.C.L.A. with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry before attending Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his D.M.D. degree. Dr. Tsai was awarded his advanced periodontics certificate from the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center and returned to the Bay Area in 2002 to work with a world-renowned San Francisco periodontist. He opened his own periodontal practice in Walnut Creek in 2005 and is today one of the most highly respected periodontal and implant clinicians in the Bay Area. As a colleague of Dr. Tsai’s, I can attest that he is a conscientious and caring periodontist with the highest ethical standards. He is known in the dental community for his meticulous treatment outcomes.
I have appreciated your confidence in me over these many years and I want to assure you that you are in excellent hands with Dr. Tsai. I think you will find that his exceptional clinical and communication skills are matched only by his empathy and compassion for his patients. Our outstanding team – Carol, Jeanne, Judy, Melissa, and Jen – will continue to work with Dr. Tsai. I will continue to treat patients through at least March 20, 2017. For several months after that I will be in the office to personally introduce Dr. Tsai to as many of you as I can.
It has been a distinct privilege and honor for me to have been entrusted with your periodontal care. I know Dr. Tsai is looking forward to establishing the same trust and support that you have given me over the years.
